Card Box Gramps made for us!

It has been a busy few months here at craft corner! ha. I have been a busy bee making the wedding decorations and accessories. I tried to come up with a creative way to label the tables and Andrew and I thought naming them after the lakes in Northern Wisconsin would be appropriate. I looked up the lake maps on the WI DNR's website typed out the lake name, then printed them on texture paper. I think they turned out quite nice!

I have been trying my hand at jewelry making on my test subjects {the bridesmaids}! I have made some braided beaded bracelets in the fall colors, I am now just trying to clean up the clasps... a bit tricky. Any suggestions would be helpful!

My first wedding project {besides the save the dates} were the bridesmaids earrings... they were so fun to make!  Next on the docket are the invitations and the bridesmaids hair pieces. I have got the design for the invitations done, now just working with the tricky wording. And the hair pieces just need to be attached to the barrettes! It is all starting to come together!

Engaged!

Well, as most of you have heard, Andrew and I are engaged!

It was Christmas at the East household on December 27th. Mixed with all the presents there was a big chunk of oak sitting under the tree with a bow on it. Andrew and Janelle played Santa and divvied out the presents and I get the chunk 'o wood.

I obviously leave the chunk o' wood to last because I was a bit confused. So when I finally get to it, Andrew takes my hand and says that this piece of oak is to be made into a mixing bowl for our kitchen. However, it will take a lot of work to make, we will have to make it together, and we will have to continuously take care of it just like a marriage and then he asked me if this could represent our marriage... and I said YES! 

Andrew had gotten this idea from an author he has been reading a lot of David James Duncan (The River Why, River Teeth, and My Story as told by Water). The chunk o' wood is currently oak, but we also have options of pine, basswood and others all of which were chosen and cut by Andrew's dad, Gene.

We have already set a date and place: October 13th, 2012 at Lakewoods Resort in Cable, WI.

Well, the week of mourning is over. Andrew found out he didn't get in and we both went through the angry stage, sad stage, and now we are rebuilding. Everything happens for a reason, and we weren't meant to be in Maine. 

Ohhh They missed each other! Andrew, Marty, Rodney, and Brian

 We had a lot to take our mind off of these things: I went to visit him on the island, and even better still Max and Lorraine's Wedding! It was such a beautiful ceremony...tornado sirens and all. We danced the night away and caught up with everyone, it was so wonderful. We spent the night with Andrew's sister Janelle and boyfriend Bern the night before the wedding and Trout Laker Samantha Reuter for breakfast before the wedding. So wonderful. We didn't get very many good pictures from the wedding, so when I get some from friends I will share them here!

I spent a few days on the island with Andrew, which was a blast! He is back to capturing these dinosaur birds... but afterwards I am going to try and convince him to guest blog about his experiences!  He has lots of stories and pictures to share with you all! Here are just a few from my visit:
